Touchbase is a website that provides information, support and services for LGBTI Australians on substance use, mental health and sexual health. The website also provides a toolkit for safe partying and shares real stories from members of the LGBTI community.
Challenges- Redesign website with as much in-depth information and support but NOT to look clinical.
- Not use the typical LGBTi rainbow colours to avoid association and stigmatisim of drugs or behaviour with any one group.
- WCAG AA compliant with mandatory exit button and optional health warning CTA.
- As the role of the Senior UX/UI Designer on this project and together with the Project Manager plus some guidance and advice from the Design Lead and Developer Lead, a mobile-first redesign of the website that is both colourful and bold was the ultimate successful solution.
- Together with evidence-based user research and weekly review meetings with the client, using Figma the redesign incorporated a colourful palette and typographic choices that complimented their brand identity while also being compliant with Accessibility and WCAG 2.1 AA.
- Use of iconography for the menus and UI were used to both evoke a more fun and partying vibe while being functional to navigate in mobile screen resolution.
- Responsive design and the use of accordions and jump-to navigation were used to condense and avoid overwhelming the user with info overload as well as "doom-scrolling."
Outcome
The client was ultimately very satisfied with the final design and expressed their appreciation for listening to their requests and changes as well as the team at 360South providing valued feedback and input throughout a very smooth design and development process. They have expressed keen interest in working with the team again should an opportunity arises in the future.
