"A design system is a set of standards to manage design at scale by reducing redundancy while creating a shared language and visual consistency across different pages and channels." - NNgroup.com Design Systems 101

At the University of Melbourne, one of the tasks I was involved with was to organise and create a complete set of standards intended to manage the design scope and at scale using visually consistent and reuseable components and patterns for video production, different faculties and courses as well as internal libraries for the Design & Production team.

This included but not limited to some of the examples shown below such as typographic layout, sizing and colour component schemes for video production so that all video produced had a consistent visual language while also adhering to overall University of Melbourne branding guidelines. Single design guidelines for handover of these styles and patterns for different stakeholders and subsequent contractors. The deliverables of these reuseable components and patterns included everything from a PDF file to Adobe XD to a Wiki page on the intranet and also Adobe Creative Cloud libraries.
